For Char and Frankie

This summer, I was commissioned to create a beautifully bespoke engagement ring for the wonderful Char and her adoring partner Frankie. Char was a dream to work with; who told me that she had stumbled upon my instagram feed and felt an instant connection to my work (words often don't often fail me, but on this occasion they did; but this means simply everything).

Char was drawn to my Powerful ring but knew that she wanted to use an Aquamarine as the central stone and so began the journey to Char's dream engagement ring.

I began with two quick sketches for Char; to give her an idea of placements and orientations and she was instantly drawn to the first drawing. Did I mention she was a dream to work with?!

I then began sourcing her central stone and fell head over heals for the most ethereal, watery aquamarine and I knew she'd feel about it exactly as I did.

The bespoke process is one that truly humbles me. The amount of trust and patience that Char had during this process was no exception.

And finally, after weeks of work, Char's dream engagement ring was ready to be revealed. My heart firmly in my throat, I send Char a few images and a video of the ring that would soon come to be her 'YES!' ring.

I felt really emotional packaging her up and waiting for Char and Frankie to receive her and, hearing a little bit about Char and Frankie's story made this beautifully bespoke project even more special.

As I would learn, Frankie and Char were introduced through mutual friends 8 years previously and, in her own words: 'The rest is history!' The couple travelled extensively, living in New Zealand for a year and travelling around South East Asia, before coming back to the UK. After deciding to put down roots in the UK, the couple moved back home to Frankie's family farm, where their shared love of animals is realised with their three dogs, two cats, eleven chickens and two pet sheep! The couple live very busy lives; with Frankie working full-time and Char working in a local vets and helping out on the farm as much as she can. It was after a health scare earlier this year that Frankie and Char suddenly had the mutual thought - 'What are we waiting for?' and decided that they wanted to get married. The couple said 'YES' to one another in what Char calls a 'not your typical down-on-one-knee proposal', which was the perfect choice for the beautifully unique couple.

It has been nothing short of a privilege to work with you, Char and Frankie and I look forward to designing and making your 'I do' rings one day in the not-too-distant future.

With all of my love, always,

Caitie xxx
